The Edo State governor Adams Oshiomhole has denied reports that he impregnated a 16 year old girl.
There was an earlier report last year from "News of the people" a publication by Dockland Communications Limited, releasing a story alleging that the governor was dating an under-aged girl and had impregnated her.

Oshiomhole subsequently sued Dockland Communications Limited, asking for an unspecified amount of money as damages for the publication.

The governor told the court that he was alleged in the publication to have bought the girl an SUV; and that he was also interfering in the decisions of authorities at the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, because of the girl.

Oshiomhole said he was seeking damages because the story caused his family serious psychological trauma six months after the death of his wife.
