Information from security agents yesterday says that they have called "a plot to poison" the President.

A Northern Political Leaders Forum (NPLF) official has told of how he was grilled over the allegation.

An arrest on Mallam Bibi Farouk was made on Thursday along with NPLF Secretary Abdulkadir Bello. According to the State Security Services (SS), the arrest was based on personal invitation on some "security issues".

But, Farouk, a former National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was freed on Saturday. He relived his experience yesterday.{googleAds}

In a two-page statement he signed, Farouk said he was questioned over a secret meeting in Kaduna by a group on how to poison Jonathan after winning the April general elections.

He said, “I vehemently denied this allegation and still insist that I have not attended any meeting at Kaduna on the said date, and I was not at Kaduna on the said date. I also insist that I have never discussed nor participated in a meeting or ever by any chance overheard conservation where such a wicked and malicious allegation was ever discussed in my life. I heard of such a thing for the first, that evening in the premises of the State Security Services.

“I was made to write a statement to that effect the following day March 11 2011 in which I rejected this allegation and I gave details of every meeting I could recollect I have attended at Kaduna since last year and the discussion I could recollect that were made in these meeting and the persons I can remember, who attended the these meetings.”

He said the SSS claimed that it had uncovered plans to give Jonathan what might be described as the late President Umaru Yar’Adua’s treatment so that he would not complete his tenure in 2015 before a Northerner takes over.

He said: "I wish to state that I was politely invited through a phone call by a senior Operative of the State Security Service(SSS) to their "Yellow House" offices in the early evening of Thursday the 10th day of march 2011.
